‘Pretty Poisonous’ is an educational and interactive artist book that I have created to raise awareness about the dangers of poisonous plants. The information I gathered from my research all pointed toward the fact that there wasn’t any substantial information or awareness campaigns about poisonous flowers.
I also came across multiple newspaper articles, documenting accidents that children and adults had suffered life changing injuries to an encounter with a poisonous plant.
My pages have been designed to give you key information and a clear image of the flower in question on each page. There is a red acetate layer that sits between each double page spread. This is to reveal the specific flower in the built-up image. This technique is simply called red reveal and works with cyan colours imagery.
This is a 4 colour reduction lino-print. Using different shades of grey, and oil based ink.
A1 ‘map’ showing the growth cycle of a Tulip bulb. Hand drawn in Photoshop using a Cintiq. Protected with a bespoke cover, with a repeating pattern, hand drawn type and finished off with a matching belly band.
Letter press, screen print and Letra set. Creating imagery about the use of real animal fur in the fashion industry.
